Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area Welcomes New CEO

Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area (CSC), a Bay Area-based non-profit devoted to supporting individuals, families, and communities affected by cancer through no-cost comprehensive care and support, announced a new Chief Executive Officer. Lucinda Bazile brings over 30 years of experience in community-based healthcare, previously serving as Deputy Director at LifeLong Medical Care. She is committed to advancing the organization’s mission and exploring new avenues to support cancer patients and their families.

“I am honored to join Cancer Support Community at such a pivotal time for the organization. My passion for health equity and cancer support services is deeply personal and inspired by my family’s own experience with cancer. I believe everyone should have access to the crucial programs that CSC offers and I’m excited to lead this incredible organization into its next chapter with the new cancer support center,” says Lucinda Bazile, CEO, Cancer Support Community.

Since 2020, CSC was led by Rob Tufel, MSW, MPH who retired at the end of 2024. Under Rob’s leadership, Cancer Support Community developed new programs such as the Financial Assistance Program for low-income patients, expanded the free counseling program, established a patient navigator program at the new UCSF-John Muir Health Cancer Center at the Behring Pavilion, and raised over $25M for a capital campaign to develop a new state of the art cancer support center that will transform supportive cancer care throughout the Bay Area. The groundbreaking for the new center will take place this spring. “Cancer Support Community is at a really exciting place with the upcoming groundbreaking of the new cancer support center. Ms. Bazile will be a great leader to take CSC to the next level while continuing to foster the 35-year culture of community, care, and expertise beloved by thousands of people touched by cancer across the Bay Area,” says Rob Tufel, MSW, MPH.
